Director – Emergency Medicine
The Team
The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is the major acute referral hospital for Northern Tasmania, with the Emergency Department providing 24/7 care to a broad regional community. The team works closely with medical, nursing, allied health, Ambulance Tasmania, inpatient and community services to deliver safe, timely and patient‐centred emergency care.
Responsibilities
The Director – Emergency Medicine provides senior clinical and strategic leadership for the Emergency Department, working in partnership with nursing and medical leaders to support safe care, patient flow, workforce planning, clinical governance and service improvement.

Compensation and Benefits
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1‐3 compensation $222,789 – $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + salary packaging. Salary range is subject to criteria outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award. Additional allowances include salary packaging options, a fully maintained private vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,786 per annum, participation in the Private Practice Scheme 35% (subject to approval), management allowance up to 20%, continuing professional development allowance of $17,483 per annum (pro rata), travel and relocation assistance up to $10,000 for interstate appointees, leave entitlements including study leave and professional development support, and access to the Fitness Passport.
Work Arrangement
Fixed term, full‐time, day‐worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a three‐year period. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
