Queensland Treasury is at the forefront of driving fiscal sustainability and economic resilience for Queensland. As the Assistant Under Treasurer, you will lead the Fiscal Strategy and Financial Reporting teams in managing crucial aspects of the State's finances, including budgeting processes, financial reporting, and balance sheet oversight. Your role will be integral to advising key stakeholders, spearheading innovative fiscal reforms, and fostering collaboration across government agencies while ensuring alignment with Queensland's priorities.
In this role, you will:
- Provide high-level fiscal management advice, analysis, and strategic guidance to senior stakeholders, including the Treasurer, Under Treasurer, and government entities.
- Oversee whole-of-government financial management and reporting functions, including balance sheet stewardship, consolidated financial reports, and accounting policy leadership.
- Manage borrowing programs and ensure alignment with economic growth and debt management strategies.
- Cultivate and maintain significant relationships with ratings agencies, central agencies, and external stakeholders to safeguard Queensland's fiscal reputation.
- Build a collaborative cross-government approach to informed decision-making, public policy development, and service delivery improvements.
- Lead major fiscal reform initiatives that align with government priorities and strategic outcomes.
- Provide exceptional leadership and nurture a positive, inclusive culture within a high-performing team environment.
- Represent Queensland Treasury in complex negotiations and consultations, advocating effectively to achieve Queensland's fiscal objectives
What experience you will bring:
- Proven success as a leader in large and complex organisations, with exceptional leadership skills and the ability to collaborate across divisions and sectors.
- Extensive expertise in fiscal management or public sector economics, demonstrating complex reporting and analysis capabilities.
- Outstanding ability to innovate and devise creative solutions for multifaceted challenges.
- Sophisticated stakeholder management proficiency, navigating and sustaining complex political, cross-government, and external relationships.
- A robust background in fiscal strategy, policy implementation, and service delivery across diverse sectors, including public, private, or not-for-profit organisations.
- A track record of effecting change, fostering confident and capable teams, and developing collaborative workplace cultures.
- High-level political acumen and capability in forging strong relationships with government leaders and senior stakeholders
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.
