Overview
Join Calvary Adelaide Hospital, South Australia's largest private hospital, and lead a passionate kitchen team delivering nutritious, high-quality meals to over 350 patients, staff, and visitors every day.
We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to oversee all aspects of food preparation and production within a large-scale, fast-paced hospital kitchen.
This role offers variety and purpose – you'll be working under pressure, but every plate you send out contributes to someone's care and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and inspire a team of Chefs and Catering Assistants.
Oversee meal production across breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.
Develop and present creative, nutritious menu options.
Manage stock, minimise wastage, and maintain a spotless, efficient kitchen.
Ensure compliance with HACCP, WHS, and Food Safety standards.
Use digital systems such as Chefmax, CBORD, Delegate, or similar for ordering and menu management.
What You Bring
Cert IV in Commercial Cookery and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
5+ years' experience in large-scale catering — ideally in healthcare, aged care, or institutional settings.
Proven experience in leading and motivating teams in a high-volume environment.
Strong understanding of HACCP, WHS, nutrition, and therapeutic diets.
Experience working in a hospital environment with exposure to digital food service systems.
Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills.
Flexible availability — early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
