Job Description

The Warren Region is home to the well‐known D'Entrecasteaux and Walpole Nornalup national parks as well as the recently created Walpole Wilderness area and Walpole Nornalup Inlets Marine Park. Many other parks and reserves as well as significant areas of State forest make up the majority of the land that we manage. The landscape of the region includes a diversity of coastal heath, tall karri forests to open jarrah and wandoo woodlands to the remnant Tingle forest. The region has wetlands of international and national significance, pristine estuaries and wild rivers.

Our key service deliverables are nature conservation, parks and visitor services, sustainable forest management, and fire management.

We are currently seeking a Regional Leader Conservation to join our team.

Under the minimal direction of (Level 6) or reporting to (Level 7) the Regional Manager, this position:

* Leads and coordinates the planned development and delivery of the department's conservation services in the Warren region.
* Builds knowledge of the status of, and threats to, biodiversity at a regional level and contributes to State level knowledge gaps.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following three (3) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.

* Considerable (Level 6) or extensive (Level 7) knowledge of, and experience in the provision of nature conservation, natural land management services, ecosystem management, bioregional planning and in developing and implementing related operational plans, management plans and strategies; with a preference for a sound knowledge of the flora, fauna and ecosystems of Western Australia.
* Considerable (Level 6) or extensive (Level 7) experience in the effective management and leadership of teams, and in negotiating, communicating and liaising with the community, media, and special interest groups including Aboriginal people.
* Substantial experience and competence in financial management and other management systems; including project management, risk management, and information technology.
