Overview
The Gunshop Cafe is seeking an experienced Chef & Cook to work in a team of chefs, cooks & apprentices to deliver a fusion cafe menu at its venue in Chermside Westfield Shopping Centre.
Joining a well established business, boasting a popular fusion menu with Asian influence. This role offers the right candidate the perfect work/life balance rotating weekly schedule.
Located within Westfield Shopping Centre, the ideal candidate is someone who can handle the hustle and bustle of a busy kitchen, whilst overseeing their section and an apprentice. We are seeking a chef who;
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage kitchen sections (cold larder, fryer, grill, pans) and supervise an apprentice.
- Plan menus, source ingredients and deliver within a dedicated food budget.
- Control the food quality, portion size and presentation of each dish.
- Communicate effectively with Front of House, Owners and Suppliers.
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of meal styles.
- Uphold hygiene regulations and food safety standards.
- Supervise and train staff; manage pass during peak periods.
- Prepare, freeze, thaw, cook and preserve all food types as required.
- Participate in menu planning and execution for dining or catering settings.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: more than 2 years in a working chef or cook role.
- Salary: Chef $67,000 annual; Cook $77,000 annual.
- Ability to work across all kitchen sections and communicate with Front of House, Owners and Suppliers.
- Solid knowledge and demonstrated experience in designing and cooking a wide variety of food styles.
- Ability to work 40+ hours per week in Australia (approval required).
- Excellent presentation and pride in personal and food presentation.
- Willingness to learn and grow skills; strong work ethic.
