Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) Part-time (60%), fixed-term position for up to 2 years Base salary will be in the range $112,572.59 - $133,381.10 17% Superannuation (Academic Level B) Based at our vibrant St Lucia Campus About This Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join the Queensland Metabolomics and Proteomics Facility (Q-MAP) to engage in research to further your expertise and growing research profile in Proteomics, Metabolomics and analytical chemistry. You will work with a diverse team of internal and external stakeholders to enhance research collaboration at Q-MAP and you will lead analytics for the Facility. At this level it is also expected that you will efficiently manage service and engagement roles and activities. Key responsibilities will include: Research: Develop close scientific collaboration with other members of Queensland Metabolomics and Proteomics Facility and assume a leadership role in analytics Develop, quality and validate analytical test methods for proteomics and metabolomics using LCMS Write analytical method validation protocols and reports Write and maintain applicable SOPs Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding the results of the project where appropriate and when requested Assist in the preparation of grant applications, conduct research and publish scholarly papers Work with colleagues in the development of joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support. Contribute to progressing towards transfer of knowledge, technology and practices to research end users through translation, including commercialisation of UQ intellectual property. Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise team members, manage and develop researcher capability and skill. Manage staff, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits. Citizenship and Service: Foster the institute & Queensland Metabolomic and Proteomic Facility's relations with research academics, students, industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community by contributing to attracting clients for the facility; Demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values. About You Completion of a PhD in the area of Analytical Chemistry or related discipline. Demonstrated expert knowledge in the area of multi-omics analyses Hands-on experience in HPLC, GC, LCMS An ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote academic discipline at a university and wider community level, including industry, government, and professional bodies Evidence of a contribution to research, including presenting in conferences and publications in metabolomics, and proteomics Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding. A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
