About the role
The Support Worker - Bilingual plays a vital role in assisting refugees and humanitarian entrants within the Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP), particularly those with limited English proficiency, to support their successful integration into Australian society. Working collaboratively with HSP team members, this role provides essential, entry-level information and practical support to empower clients throughout their settlement journey.
Support may include assistance with education and employment, cultural orientation, and logistical help such as transport to appointments (including via public transport) and airport pickups. The role may also involve coordinating, supervising, and supporting volunteers. Importantly, the Support Worker contributes holistically to all aspects of the client’s settlement experience, helping to ensure consistent, person-centred support.
Fluency in Swahili is a mandatory requirement of this role.

What you will bring

- General office administration, time management and records management skills.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound understanding of issues affecting people impacted by migration, their vulnerabilities, needs and strengths.
- Ability to establish clear work boundaries.
- Sound understanding of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Sound ability to apply established procedures, methods and guidelines.

Mandatory Requirements
A Working with Children Check and a current Driver’s Licence is require for this role
