About the role
As a Credit Analyst, you’ll play a key role in the customer journey by assessing credit applications from customers and brokers. Using a mix of bank statements, financial statements and other data, you’ll determine creditworthiness and recommend appropriate lending solutions. Your insights will help shape customer outcomes while managing risk effectively.
What you'll do
- Assess commercial credit applications by analysing financial statements, bank statements and other relevant data
- Conduct phone interviews with applicants and brokers to gather information and negotiate loan criteria
- Provide accurate, quantitative credit assessments and recommend lending limits aligned with Shift’s credit appetite
- Ensure correct products and services are applied to customer applications
- Maintain detailed records of key risk factors and mitigation strategies to support decision making
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, customers, and brokers to enhance business performance
- Adhere to credit underwriting standards, compliance policies, and ensure data integrity in core systems
- Support Relationship Managers and Sales teams by providing coaching and upskilling
- Identify opportunities for process and service improvements to boost team efficiency
What you'll bring
- Experience holding a Delegated Lending Authority for commercial/business lending
- Strong business acumen and solid understanding of the SME market
- Proven track record in delivering excellent customer service
- Experience assessing commercial credit using financial and bank statements; experience with non-traditional data is a plus
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
- Experience in risk or analytics roles or working with finance products in point-of-sale environments is advantageous but not essential
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to compliance and data accuracy
