The Opportunity

We are pleased to offer a rewarding career opportunity for a reliable and community-focused Groundsperson/Gravedigger. As part of our Outdoor Operations and Horticulture teams, you will play a key role in the respectful delivery of burial services and the ongoing care and presentation of our cemetery grounds.

This position supports daily operations across our sites and contributes to maintaining the high standards of service and care our community relies on.

This is a permanent part-time role of 32 hours per week, with the spread of hours across Monday to Friday to be agreed by mutual arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will play an important part in maintaining our sites to a high standard and supporting our community through meaningful work. Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

* Undertaking grounds maintenance activities such as lawn mowing, trimming, garden care, and general site upkeep.
* Safely operating a range of plant and equipment, including brush cutters, mowers, backhoes, tractors, and excavators, in accordance with safety requirements.
* Preparing burial sites and undertaking grave digging with care, dignity, and professionalism.
* Carrying out general construction and landscaping tasks as required.
* Maintaining a strong commitment to workplace safety while supporting and working collaboratively with colleagues.
* Providing respectful and professional assistance to funeral directors, colleagues, and members of the community.

This role offers the opportunity to take pride in practical, hands-on work while contributing to the presentation, safety, and care of places that are deeply important to the community.

About You

We are seeking a committed and community-minded individual who brings a professional, respectful approach to their work. Ideally, you will demonstrate the following:

* A current and valid driver's licence (essential).
* A respectful, professional manner when engaging with members of the community.
* Experience or qualifications in horticulture, grounds maintenance, machinery operation, or a similar outdoor role (highly regarded).
* A heavy rigid truck licence (advantageous).
* The ability to safely and efficiently undertake physical work.
* A genuine commitment to working sensitively and respectfully with grieving families and community members.
* Strong teamwork skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and develop.
* The ability to work comfortably outdoors in all weather conditions.

This role will suit someone who takes pride in their work, values teamwork, and understands the importance of compassion and care in a community-focused environment.
