Lead Digital Business Analyst Job for Australian Federal Agency

This federal agency is seeking an experienced Lead Digital Business Analyst to join a progressive, multidisciplinary delivery team working under agile principles. This role will support the continuous improvement and maturity of a major Australian government corporate website, contributing to significant delivery milestones in the first half of 2026 and beyond.
Your new role
As a Lead Business Analyst, you will work closely with product owners, content authors, developers, technical specialists, and end users to conduct analysis and define requirements for innovative, customer-centric digital solutions. You'll play a key role in planning, preparing, and executing enhancements that transform digital services.
You will:
* Engage with business stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into user stories and requirements.
* Conduct research and in-depth analysis of existing processes and products.
* Collaborate with subject-matter experts, architects, developers, and testers to design and deliver solutions.
* Participate in sprint planning and assist the product owner in running agile ceremonies.
* Contribute to agile and delivery practices, supporting continuous improvement.
* Provide technical advice to software engineers, data scientists, and executive stakeholders through presentations, documentation, and digital channels.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will have:
* Exceptional ability to elicit and define requirements & acceptance criteria following best practice principles.
* Outstanding communication skills to facilitate interviews, workshops, and document analysis, building shared understanding with stakeholders.
* Understanding of digital platforms and content management systems, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams.
* Ability to deliver high-quality documentation such as process maps and current/future state diagrams based on thorough analysis.
* Familiarity with SmartIQ is highly desirable.
* You must be able to obtain baseline clearance.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will get an initial 6-month contract with 2 x 12-month extensions possible.
