About the Role

We are seeking a technically strong and commercially aware Service Manager to lead our generator and diesel engine service operations. This role will oversee workshop and field service delivery across preventative maintenance, breakdown response, major repairs, and commissioning of critical power equipment.

You will play a key role in supporting customers operating standby and prime power systems across industries including mining, oil & gas, infrastructure, and commercial facilities.

This position suits a hands‐on technical leader who understands the operational demands of diesel engines and generator systems and can guide technicians through complex diagnostics and fault resolution.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead day‐to‐day service operations across workshop and field teams
* Provide technical guidance on diesel engine and generator diagnostics
* Oversee preventive maintenance, fault finding, and major component overhauls
* Support commissioning and reliability improvements
* Drive technician productivity, utilisation, and safety performance
* Coordinate breakdown response and maintenance scheduling
* Support quoting, job costing, and service profitability
* Build strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders

Technical Requirements

* Strong practical experience with diesel engines and generator systems
* Knowledge of engine fuel systems, cooling systems, turbocharging, and governing
* Experience with generator controls and protection functions
* Capability to interpret wiring schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals
* Familiarity with fault diagnostics relating to starting systems, fuel contamination, wet stacking, and load acceptance
* Exposure to SCADA, remote monitoring, or modern generator controllers highly regarded

About You

* Proven experience in a Service Manager, Supervisor, or Senior Technician leadership role
* Strong troubleshooting capability and ability to mentor technicians
* Customer‐focused with strong communication skills
* Highly organised with strong planning and scheduling ability
* Commercial awareness including quoting, margins, and service KPIs
* Safety‐focused with a commitment to continuous improvement
