SC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum. Demonstrated ability to model exemplary teaching practice, including the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum, and implement school priorities.

Role


Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning.¿¿Learning Specialists are expected to have deep knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students. The role of the Learning Specialist will be to model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons and, mentoring and coaching teachers in improving the skill, knowledge and effectiveness of the teaching workforce.

This role will require the capacity to teach across domains such as Mathematics, Health and Physical Education and other subject areas as required. It will also require deep understanding of the Disability Inclusion framework.

The Learning Specialist role is aimed at building excellence in teaching and learning within the Teaching Service.


Responsibilities


Responsibilities

Please note that the responsibilities listed below are not exhaustive but rather indicative of the scope of the role. Additional tasks may be required to support College needs.

* Model College values in all dealings with members of the college and broader community.

* Demonstrate high-level teaching and learning practice in relation to differentiating teaching to meet the needs of all students.¿

* Model effective learning practice and supporting teachers to seek, analyse and act on feedback on their practice in relation to differentiating teaching to meet the needs of all students.

* Model and demonstrate exemplary teaching in¿Mathematics¿and¿Physical Education, specifically showing staff how to differentiate for students with additional needs.

* Contribute to the implementation of the Disability Inclusion¿reform by building staff capacity to conduct¿Disability Inclusion Profile¿meetings and use inclusive pedagogy.

* Facilitate¿weekly meetings¿with Education Support (ES) staff to align resource allocation with pedagogical goals, ensuring staff schedules directly support student learning targets.

* Design and deliver high-quality professional learning that integrates inclusive strategies into the Maths and PE curriculum, focusing on the¿Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0.

* Mentor staff in the development of sophisticated¿Individual Education Plans (IEPs)¿that move beyond compliance to true student growth.


Who May Apply


Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Qualification Requirements


To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class:

* The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching; and
* if the person completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, they must demonstrate that they have satisfactorily completed a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program that has been accredited by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority as satisfying the requirements of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership 'Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia: Standards and Procedures'; and
* a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program after 1 July 2016 must also demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements (this condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian ITE program completed by the person).

Location Profile


Red Cliffs Secondary College is the only Year 7-12 Government Secondary College in the Mildura area and caters for students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. Whilst many families represent the agricultural and horticultural development of the surrounding areas, others reflect the range of professions living in the district. The College provides comprehensive and sequential courses for all years in the key curriculum areas. At senior year levels, students can select courses which guarantee pathways to further studies at University, TAFE, apprenticeships and employment. A range of VET subjects are available for students both onsite and through our education providers.

The College has a very successful Arts program, particularly Music, Drama, Dance and Media Studies. All students have frequent opportunities to perform publicly at such events as Awards Night, Mildura Eisteddfods, or at our bi-annual variety performances at the Mildura Arts Centre and community functions.
