Electrical and Control Systems Engineer

About the Role
Australian Control Engineering (ACE) is seeking an experienced Electrical and Controls Engineer to join our Perth team.
This role is suited to an engineer with strong hands-on experience in SCADA, control systems, and industrial communications, particularly in the design, programming, testing, and commissioning of systems used in power stations, power systems, substations, and renewable energy projects in Australia.
You will work on utility and infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting the delivery of reliable, compliant, and practical engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and implement electrical, control, SCADA, and communications systems
* Program, configure, test, and commission PLCs, RTUs, SCADA systems, HMIs, and industrial communication networks
* Deliver control system solutions for power stations, substations, power system assets, and renewable energy facilities
* Prepare engineering documentation including scope of works, schematics, wiring diagrams, functional descriptions, test records, and installation manuals
* Perform site testing, fault finding, commissioning, and troubleshooting on new and existing systems
* Work closely with project managers, engineers, technicians, and clients to deliver quality project outcomes
Required Skills and Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates should have:
* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline
* Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial electrical and control systems
* Strong hands-on experience in SCADA, control systems, and industrial communications
* Proven experience in the design, programming, testing, and commissioning of control systems in Australia
* Experience with power stations, power systems, substations, or renewable energy projects
* Experience with PLC and RTU platforms such as Siemens, Schneider, Allen-Bradley, SEL or similar
* Experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition, GeoSCADA, Citect or similar
* Strong understanding of electrical schematics, protection and control interfaces, Australian standards, and regulatory compliance
* Strong troubleshooting, technical documentation, and communication skills
* Willingness to travel to regional or remote sites as required
