About the Role: Deputy Director, Strategy and Planning

* Lead the development and implementation of ARMI's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with Monash University's research priorities.
* Drive financial sustainability through budget planning, funding acquisition, and commercialization strategies.
* Build and maintain high-level relationships with government, industry, philanthropic partners, and research organizations to enhance funding opportunities and influence.
* Oversee governance, risk management, and compliance, ensuring adherence to university policies and external regulations.
* Manage business operations, contracts, and infrastructure planning to support research excellence.
* Lead ARMI's people and culture strategy, fostering a high-performing, inclusive, and diverse team environment.
* Expand ARMI's national and international collaborations to increase research opportunities and global impact.
* Support the growth and success of the Master of Biotechnology program as a key revenue stream.

About You

* A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field and extensive executive experience in complex organizations.
* Proven expertise in developing and executing strategic plans, especially within research-intensive environments.
* Strong leadership skills in operations, finance, contract negotiation, and governance.
* Exceptional ability to forge and manage strategic relationships across industry, government, academia, and research sectors.
* Experience within the Australian research sector, understanding funding, compliance, and commercialization pathways.
* High-level research, analytical, and problem-solving skills to drive complex initiatives and operational improvements.
* A successful track record in team leadership, fostering collaboration, service excellence, and professional growth.
* Outstanding communication and negotiation skills to influence and engage senior stakeholders.
