* 1x Temporary opportunity to 31 October 2027, with the possibility of conversion to ongoing
* Full-time role - 35 hours per week + FlexTime
* Lidcombe office location or on negotiation - hybrid working supported
* Salary ranges from $109,102.00 to $120, super + leave loading

Our Climate & Atmospheric Science branch is seeking to appoint a Scientist, Climate & Atmospheric Science, in an ongoing capacity, to join a collaborative, future-focused team delivering state-of-the-art climate projections, as part of the NSW and Australian Regional Climate Modelling (NARCliM) programme.

You will contribute to high-impact analyses and research on climate change, climate extremes and risks, working to deliver robust and rigorous state-of-the-art, impactful climate science and modelling that can be used by a wide variety of stakeholders across government, industry and academia.

About You

We are seeking a motivated and curious scientist with a passion for climate science and delivering work that drives meaningful outcomes. You'll be confident working with data, models and code, and enjoy applying your technical skills to solve complex problems in a collaborative setting.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

* experience in climate modelling, atmospheric science, physical oceanography, or a related earth systems science discipline
* strong coding skills in Python, R or MATLAB, with an eye for writing clean, well-documented scientific code
* the ability to analyse large spatial datasets and communicate results to a range of audiences
* a collaborative mindset and the drive to contribute to impactful, applied research
* a commitment to continuous learning, scientific integrity and delivering results that support climate resilience in NSW

Essential Requirements

* Relevant science degree qualifications: specifically tertiary scientific qualification (ideally to PhD, or equivalent experience) in climate or earth systems science, such as climate science or modelling, atmospheric physics, atmospheric chemistry or physical oceanography.
