We are seeking a skilled and proactive Accounting Assistant to join our finance team supporting multiple business units in the agri-business and hospitality sectors. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for processing financial transactions, assisting with month-end close, managing payroll and accounts, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. This role requires someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Responsibilities
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and employee expense claims
Assist with monthly reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and financial controls
Support the budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes, including variance analysis and commentary
Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements
Assist with compliance obligations including BAS, payroll tax, and grain levy reporting
Collaborate with General Managers and finance colleagues to support operational and strategic financial goals
Your Profile
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 3 years' experience in accounting support or financial operations role
Proven experience with payroll, AP/AR, and month-end close processes
Proficiency with accounting software, preferably Xero and DEAR, and advanced Excel skills
Prior experience in agri-business, manufacturing or hospitality sectors strongly preferred
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectivelyDetail-oriented, organised, and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
