* Salary commencing at $39.90 per hour plus 12% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.

The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a motivated and community‑focused Community Outreach and Reader Services Technician to join our Libraries and Learning team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support adults in our community by delivering high‑quality outreach, reader services, and library programs, with a particular focus on the Home Library Service and services based at Niddrie Library. Working within a professional and welcoming team, you will provide excellent customer service, manage and promote adult collections, and contribute to programs that enhance lifelong learning and community connection.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver friendly, responsive, and proactive customer service across library services, including support with technology, online resources, and self‑service systems.
* Manage the Home Library Service at Niddrie Library, including resource selection, reporting, and engagement with residents, volunteers, and aged care facilities.
* Contribute to the promotion, development, and delivery of reader services and adult programs in collaboration with the Community Outreach Librarian and Programs team.
* Maintain and promote the adult collection, encouraging reader engagement through displays, promotions, and reader advisory activities.
* Support day‑to‑day library operations, including opening and closing procedures, relief work at other library locations, and acting as senior staff member on duty when required.
Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring a qualification eligible for Library Technician membership with the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), along with relevant experience in a public library or similar customer‑focused environment. You will have strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with adults, older residents, and people with diverse needs. Your experience will include delivering or supporting programs, maintaining and promoting library collections, and using a wide range of technologies, online resources, library systems, and mobile devices. You will demonstrate sound organisational and time management skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and the confidence to make day‑to‑day operational decisions when acting in a supervisory capacity.
