Cook/Chef required for a well-established Indian restaurant "THE FLAMES" located at 166A MOLLISON ST, KYNETON VIC 3444. Prospective applicants must have good prior experience of working commercially as an Indian Cook or Chef. Duties include.
Chef Duties
Monitor the kitchen staff during pre-cooking preparations.
Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of food preparation, food presentation.
Prepare specialized food items from the restaurant menu
Preparing food items keeping in mind the nutrition value of the items included.
Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients as per restaurant's food recipes or personal judgment.
Planning menus & recipes.
Estimating food and Labor costs and ordering food supplies.
Discussing food preparation issues with Manager and other kitchen staff.
Time to time, train junior staff.
Managing the organization of all stock and stock control for the venue
Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
Upholding food safety and hygiene standards
Cook Duties
Preparing various food items from the restaurant's menu that includes vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and seafood dishes.
Undertake pre-cooking preparations such as washing, trimming, carving, chopping, peeling, cutting, stirring, mixing, mincing, grilling, and boiling foods such as various meats, seafood, vegetables, and fruits.
Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients as per restaurant's food recipes or personal judgment.
Prepare food according to cultural and dietary needs of the customers.
Portioning the food & seasoning of food using various spices.
Assist chef in estimating food & labour costs, and ordering food supplies.
Examining of food by tasting it.
Ensuring the food is of high quality and well presented.
Handling and labelling stored goods
Controlling and regulating oven temperature
Showing good organisation in his workload, prioritizing tasks.
Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the food service area.
In Return for your commitment and skills, you will receive a competitive salary package ($75,000 - $80,000 plus Superannuation) and will receive ongoing training with the opportunity to develop your skills. Applicants with formal hospitality qualifications (Diploma of hospitality for the Chef position & Certificate IV in commercial cookery for the Cook position) and with 1 - 2 years of practical experience working as a cook/chef will be prioritised. Applicants with Indian culinary experience will also be prioritised. Position is available full time, 38 hours/week but applicant must be available for 7 days/week and willing to work odd hours (Weekend, late shifts & public holidays).
