The Organisation
Join a large and fast-growing Australian services group that has entered an exciting new chapter under private equity ownership. With the backing of a leading investment firm, the organisation is accelerating its next phase of growth through strategic acquisitions, operational optimisation, and continued expansion across Australia and international markets.
Operating across construction, restoration, and essential services, the business combines the scale and stability of an established enterprise with the agility and ambition of a PE-backed environment. It's a dynamic, hands-on culture where commercial insight, accountability, and execution are paramount — and where finance sits at the centre of value creation.
About the Role
Reporting to the Global CFO, the Group General Manager – Finance will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance, governance, and strategic growth across the Group.
You'll lead a high-performing finance function that underpins the Group's commercial success and growth trajectory. Leading a team of talented Finance Business Partners, you'll drive commercial insight, ensure robust financial control, and partner closely with the COO, CEO, and divisional leaders to optimise profitability, capital efficiency, and growth execution.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and developing Finance Business Partners across multiple business units and subsidiaries
* Driving management reporting, WIP and project reviews, variance analysis, and forecasting
* Overseeing budgets, governance frameworks, compliance, and external audit processes
* Partnering with the Global CFO, CEO, and executive leadership on M&A, integration, and performance improvement projects
* Managing financial close, group results, and board-level reporting
* Leading value-add initiatives including automation, process improvement, and procurement optimisation
* Supporting capital planning, equity programs, and investor reporting
This is a high-impact, strategic role suited to a commercially astute finance leader who thrives in complex, fast-moving, and performance-driven environments.
Your Profile
You are an experienced finance executive with a strong technical foundation and the commercial acumen to drive strategic outcomes. Construction industry experience is essential — you understand the financial mechanics of project-based businesses, including WIP management, cost control, and revenue recognition across multiple entities and complex operating environments.
You bring a proven track record of driving performance, leading teams, and influencing executive decision-making in large, fast-paced organisations — ideally those undergoing growth, transformation, or integration.
Key attributes:
* CA/CPA qualified with substantial post-qualification experience
* Proven success leading commercial or group finance in construction or project-based industries
* Strong capability in WIP reporting, margin management, and cost control
* Strategic thinker with experience influencing executive and board-level decision-making
* Exposure to M&A, integration, and transformation environments
* Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
With the business entering a high-growth phase and further expansion across ANZ, this position offers a clear pathway to the CFO ANZ role for the right candidate.
Culture and Benefits
This is a performance-driven environment where finance is viewed as a strategic partner, not a back-office function. You'll work closely with an ambitious, commercially focused leadership team — supported by a strong private equity sponsor and backed by significant capital investment.
Benefits include:
* Exposure to transformational growth and M&A activity
* Complex, fast-paced construction finance environment
* Close collaboration with the Global CFO and Executive Team
* Genuine succession pathway to CFO ANZ
* Competitive executive remuneration package
