The Role Our client, a family-owned operation located just outside Camperdown in Victoria's southwest, is seeking a vibrant and enthusiastic individual to fill the Skilled Stockman position due to an increase in stock numbers. This role offers involvement in all aspects of the property, with a strong focus on expert animal husbandry and essential property maintenance. The operation manages a well-maintained 2,000-hectare property that boasts new infrastructure and recent improvements to pastures, fencing, and water systems. Productivity, efficiency, and clear communication are paramount, with the business utilising AgriWebb across the operation to meet these high standards. Livestock Focus: The business is heavily weighted toward sheep, comprising approximately 70% of the operation, with 10,000 composite ewes. The primary lambing season is in August, with lambs finished on summer crops for fat lamb production. The cattle component includes a 250-head Angus breeding herd for spring calves. Progeny are retained until they reach feedlot weight and are sold directly. The enterprise also generates income strategically through the agistment of cattle and trading/backgrounding cattle based on market conditions. Reporting directly to the manager, your responsibilities as a Skilled Stockman will include diverse animal husbandry practices such as sheep and cattle yard work, mustering, livestock feeding, operating machinery, and general property maintenance. You will work closely with a tight-knit team residing on the property, requiring both excellent teamwork and the ability to work independently. The Offer We offer an excellent remuneration package tailored to your experience, accompanied by comfortable accommodation and the opportunity for long-term incentive bonuses. The accommodation features a nearly new, air-conditioned three-bedroom cottage with a carport and yard. This beautiful farm location is situated just 15 minutes from the towns of Camperdown, Terang, and Mortlake, and 40 minutes from Warrnambool. All these towns offer comprehensive services and quality education. Additionally, a school bus service to Terang is conveniently available about 5km from the house.
