As the Clinical Nurse Educator, you will be responsible for coordinating, delivering, and evaluating clinical nurse education within the Perioperative Scrub Scout team. Your primary duties will include facilitating orientation and transition programs for new and casual nursing staff, addressing the ongoing educational needs of existing team members, and supporting the clinical placement of nursing students. You will also assist with training and education for non-nursing staff, including Operating Theatre Assistants, Wardspersons and Sterilisation Technicians.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager/Nurse Manager and the broader hospital team, contributing to the development, implementation, and assessment of specialty-specific clinical education programs. Involvement in the development of transition to specialty practice, programs and competencies within the Perioperative Unit that align with ACORN standards and development tools. Additionally, you will provide clinical supervision at the point of care, with a strong emphasis on ensuring quality and safety standards are met across all educational initiatives.

Wollongong Hospital, located on Dharawal Country, is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
