Job Description
The Business Development Manager's objective is to gain new business and widen the customer base. Equally this role focuses on increasing share of wallet with existing customers, primarily selling the Melbourne branch's services and key deliverables.
Reporting directly to the New Business & Sales Manager, the position includes the following responsibilities:
* Identify and target new business opportunities in transportation and logistics markets.
* Identify opportunities to upsell the SCT Group Business to new clients.
* Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and customer needs.
* Build and maintain relationships with prospects, partners, and industry stakeholders.
* Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to ensure seamless onboarding of new clients.
* Meet or exceed sales targets and performance metrics.
* Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer interactions.
* Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to promote SCT Logistics and build professional relationships.
* Monitor individual sale budgets and customers who are trading regularly.
* Report on weekly pipeline ensuring data is current and accurate at all times.
* Ensure that SCT provides clear communication with its customers in managing expectations.
* Collaborate with customer service and planning teams to resolve service issues.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Proven experience in business development or sales within the logistics or transportation industry.
* Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) and CRM software.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Results-driven with a proactive approach.
* Ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders and a broad customer base.
* Ability to influence decision making.
* Able to work autonomously with excellent time management.
