Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a dedicated and culturally grounded Raypirri Rom Support Worker to support male Community Workers within the Raypirri Rom Programs. Working closely with the Male Team Leader, this role provides mentoring, practical support and coordination assistance to ensure services are delivered in a culturally safe and strengths-based way, grounded in Yolŋu values and protocols. The position will assist with community initiatives such as wellbeing camps, support groups and education activities across the Gove Peninsula, while collaborating with Elders and senior Yolŋu staff to promote safe outcomes for individuals, families and children. This is an opportunity to contribute to early intervention and prevention work, strengthen the Yolŋu workforce, and support positive change within community.
Responsibilities
* Support male Community Workers within the Raypirri Rom Programs, providing mentoring, practical support and coordination assistance.
* Deliver services in a culturally safe and strengths-based way, grounded in Yolŋu values and protocols.
* Assist with community initiatives such as wellbeing camps, support groups and education activities across the Gove Peninsula.
* Collaborate with Elders and senior Yolŋu staff to promote safe outcomes for individuals, families and children.
* Contribute to early intervention and prevention work, strengthen the Yolŋu workforce, and support positive change within the community.
Qualifications
* Formal training in Community Services and/or at least one year's experience working with Aboriginal people in a remote setting, with willingness to undertake further relevant training.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
* Personal qualities such as reliability, honesty, cultural awareness and motivation.
* Current NT Driver's Licence is required.
* Ability to speak a local Aboriginal language, knowledge of kinship systems; experience in social and emotional wellbeing, counselling, case management or community-based responses to family and domestic violence and alcohol and drug-related harm is highly regarded.
