As a leader, you'll model our values, drive high performance, and embody a One Team mindset.The Role We're seeking a Senior Manager, Data Risk to provide crucial Line 2 oversight and challenge to data management, governance, and quality practices across the Auto & General Group. Based in Toowong or Melbourne, you will ensure our data-related risk controls align with regulatory, legislative, and industry best practices. This individual contributor role involves partnering with data owners, technology teams, and governance functions to enhance enterprise-wide practices, uplift our data strategy, and ensure regulatory compliance, ultimately supporting broader business objectives.Position AccountabilitiesLine 2 Risk Oversight:Providing independent oversight and effective challenge to data risk management practices and programs.Monitoring adherence to enterprise-wide data governance, quality standards, frameworks, and controls.Reviewing and assessing material data risk exposure across Line 1 initiatives, including transformation projects, cloud migrations, and third-party arrangements.Advising on risk implications of AGIC's data strategies, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk framework and business objectives.Data Governance Frameworks:Leading the embedding of the enterprise data risk framework, aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.Partnering with Line 1 to promote consistent application of data ownership models, metadata management practices, and stewardship frameworks.Ensuring data risk management practices align with regulatory and legislative requirements, and internal policies.Supporting regulatory reviews and audits, advising on data governance, reporting, and risk alignment for third-party data services.Risk Assessments, Reporting and Insights:Conducting thematic reviews and deep dives into critical data areas.Providing detailed insights on emerging risks, ensuring these are reflected in risk profiles and action plans.Delivering high-quality insights and commentary on data risk exposures, control effectiveness, and remediation progress to senior management and governance committees.Tracking and reporting on risk issues, control gaps, and risk acceptances, providing metrics that measure the impact and progress of data governance efforts.Qualifications & Experience7-10 years of experience in enterprise data governance and data risk, preferably within a regulated financial services or insurance environment.Proven experience in Line 2 risk, assurance, or internal audit functions is highly desirable.Expertise in data lifecycle management, data architecture principles, and regulatory compliance obligations.High-level leadership and engagement skills, with the ability to manage SME experts the A&G way.Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.Ability to build effective relationships with senior managers and other key stakeholders.Experience in the general insurance industry is highly regarded.Tertiary qualifications in Information Management, Data Governance, or related disciplines.Professional certifications preferred: CDMP, CIMP, or related data governance and risk credentials.Our Perks Location – ToowongClose to a variety of public transport and easy parking options, the Toowong office has excellent end of trip facilities (including secure bike storage and showers), outdoor spaces and plenty of modern collaborative areas to work and connect with colleagues.
