Job Description
We are seeking a General Paediatrician with a passion for rural medicine to join the paediatric team at South East Regional Hospital. This is a 6 month maternity leave relief position with a possibility of extension for someone wanting to experience rural paediatric life.
South East Regional Hospital is in the beautiful Bega Valley on the Sapphire Coast of NSW. The hospital is a Level 4 Paediatric Unit with 6 paediatric inpatient beds plus 4 short stay beds.
The successful applicant will provide expert paediatric medical assessment and management of patients within the Department of Paediatrics. The role also includes a key clinical role in teaching, supervision and support of junior medical staff.
The position will be primarily located at South East Regional Hospital but may be varied as agreed with the District Director of Medical Services and District Medical Lead (Paediatrics) and as approved via Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC) to other facilities in Southern NSW.
Responsibilities
Provide expert paediatric medical assessment and management of patients within the Department of Paediatrics
Participate in a 24/7 on call roster to South East Regional Hospital with telehealth consultation services to hospitals in the Coastal Network
Work in outpatient clinics and provision of education and training in the SNSWLHD Coastal Network
Selection Criteria
Recognised specialist qualifications - Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and/or equivalent specialist recognition
Demonstrated recent clinical experience and competence in general paediatric medicine including acute care, neonatal care and outpatient general paediatrics
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and build cooperative partnerships towards a successful outcome
