Senior Hygiene SpecialistRandstad are seeking highly experienced (principal level) Hygiene Specialists to join our mining client's technical team and play a critical role in driving a positive hygiene culture.Based in their Adelaide office, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and governing the occupational hygiene performance across multiple sites, with occasional site travel required.These roles offer the chance to work with a world-class mining client, committed to improving the health and wellbeing of its staff.
You will be motivated by the opportunity to problem-solve, drive positive change, and support a thriving workforce.Key Responsibilities:Provide expert occupational hygiene advice, leadership and coaching to asset and line managementAnticipate, identify, assess, recommend and verify controls for occupational hygiene hazards (e.g., dust, noise, diesel particulates, thermal stress, gases, etc.).
Set the strategic direction for hygiene initiatives and risk management strategiesBe accountable for the quality of hygiene data, statistics, and performance reportingDevelop and implement robust exposure control strategies and deliver hygiene improvement projectsInfluence senior leaders to progress site-specific hygiene business plan initiatives and ensure the success of the exposure reduction strategyGovern, maintain, and improve hygiene-related standards, processes, systems, and proceduresOversee the occupational hygiene monitoring program, including the implementation of Real Time Monitoring (RTM)Manage unexpected hygiene events, including hazard assessment and recommendation of immediate corrective actionsContribute to building hygiene capability within the HSE team and the wider workforceEssential Skills & Experience:Overriding commitment to safety and the company's Charter ValuesDegree qualification in Occupational Hygiene, Health Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related fieldProven experience leading change and delivering company-wide hygiene initiatives or projects, ideally within the mining or heavy industrial sectorsHigh level of technical and practical skills in Occupational Hygiene, with strong experience in implementing effective engineering controlsPreferred: Full AIOH (Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists) membership or equivalent, with Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) statusExceptional ability to engage, coach, and influence multiple stakeholders at all organisational levelsStrong understanding of health and hygiene-related legislation across AustraliaAbility to work autonomously while also thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced team environmentExcellent planning, organisational, and time management skillsCandidates must be able to demonstrate experience in a similar role and preference will be given to those with mining experience.
