This is a well-regarded performance marketing agency in Melbourne working with some of Australia's most recognised retail and e-commerce brands. The work is serious, the clients invest heavily, and the expectations are high. They have earned a reputation for doing things properly, and they want a Senior Performance Advisor who holds themselves to the same standard.
You will own paid media strategy across a portfolio of major retail and eCommerce clients, lead a team of two to three performance marketers, and stay close enough to the detail to catch problems before they reach the client. This is not a role where you disappear into strategy decks and surface once a quarter. You will be in the work, shaping it, and lifting the people around you at the same time.
What You Will Be Doing
Strategy and Account Leadership
* Own paid search strategy and SEM campaign management across a portfolio of national retail and eCommerce clients, translating commercial objectives into channel direction, investment recommendations, and clear performance roadmaps
* Lead account reviews and strategic planning cycles, ensuring each client has a forward-looking paid media strategy grounded in data, commercial context, and biddable media best practices
* Act as the senior point of contact for your client portfolio, building trusted relationships through consistent delivery and proactive communication
Team Leadership and Development
* Manage a team of two to three Performance specialists, setting clear expectations, reviewing work quality, and supporting genuine progression
* Run regular one-on-ones and structured feedback sessions that build capability over time, with a focus on Google Ads, Shopping campaigns, Performance Max, and feed management
* Oversee campaign output across your team, maintaining quality control across execution, tracking, and reporting before it reaches clients
Campaign Execution and Optimisation
* Stay hands-on across Google Ads, Performance Max, and Google Merchant Centre, ensuring paid search strategy is grounded in platform reality and connected to eCommerce performance outcomes
* Lead structured testing programs across bidding strategies, ad formats, audiences, and landing pages, with documented hypotheses and results shared back to the broader team
* Drive continuous improvement across bids, budgets, and search campaign architecture with a focus on ROAS, CPA, and long-term commercial outcomes
Reporting and Insights
* Own monthly and quarterly reporting across your portfolio using GA4, Looker Studio, and Excel, with a focus on insight and recommended action, not just data delivery
* Build and maintain performance dashboards that give clients and internal stakeholders a clear, accurate view of paid search and biddable media performance
* Present performance narratives confidently to senior stakeholders, translating SEM and eCommerce data into clear commercial language
What You Bring
Experience Required
* 4 to 6 years managing paid search and SEM end-to-end within an agency environment, with a strong grasp of seasonality, margin, and commercial KPIs across retail and eCommerce clients
* 2 or more years of eCommerce performance marketing experience across Shopping campaigns, feed management, and Performance Max, with a track record of developing junior performance marketers
* Strong budget management experience across $300K+ monthly paid search portfolios, identifying wasted spend and scaling what works
* Proven ability to present paid media performance narratives confidently to senior stakeholders, translating SEM and eCommerce data into clear commercial language
Technical Skills Required
* Advanced knowledge of Google Ads across Search, Shopping, and Performance Max, including smart bidding strategies, audience signals, and search campaign architecture
* Proficient in Google Analytics (GA4), Google Merchant Centre, and Google Tag Manager, with a zero-tolerance approach to data integrity and conversion tracking
* Confident building paid media dashboards and reporting frameworks in Looker Studio and Excel, connecting biddable media spend to commercial outcomes
* Working knowledge of Programmatic platforms, with an understanding of how paid search and programmatic interact across the funnel
