Currently, Harbison is an approved aged care provider, registered NDIS provider, approved childcare provider, retirement village owner, and one of the largest employers in the Southern Highlands.
Harbison is governed by a Board of Directors which appoints a Chief Executive Officer who is delegated with day-to-day responsibility for the organisation.
Primary purpose of the role The Care Service Employee (Reablement Support) is responsible for supporting the care that is driven by wellbeing and by encouraging participation in specific treatment plans related to their current goals and physical injury, illness, or disability.
This role includes working closely with the Physiotherapist and/or the Occupational Therapist in Geriatric assessments, acute and chronic rehabilitation, falls and injury prevention and management, to meet the clinical indicators to benefit each resident of Harbison.
Key accountabilities Support residents' general health by promoting regular participation in physical activities.
Provide physical therapy services under the supervision and guidance of the in-charge Physiotherapist.
Navigate and assist the workload in a busy health and wellness clinic, and community service.
Facilitate group exercise classes for residents under various stages of care assistance.
Attend to residents for 1:1 exercises as prescribed by the Physiotherapist i.e., going through the exercise handout, ambulatory activities, respiratory care management, and pressure care management.
Attend to residents for manual therapy like massage, ultrasound, Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), and providing heat packs for pain management.
Assist Physiotherapist's care planning for residents by identifying resident needs and concerns.
Including assessing any changes in the mobility and pain conditions of residents and referring with the Physiotherapist regularly.
Deliver education such as manual handling, falls prevention, pressure injury prevention to staff as directed by the physiotherapist or team leader.
Assist the team during the assessment and rehabilitation of high care residents.
Assist residents with mobility aids and care equipment and report any faults or additional changes to the aids as needed.
Audit, monitor and report the condition of lifting equipment and mobility aids.
Regular documentation of resident care services by charting online data entries.
Regular tracking of supplies for the wellness clinic and request stocks as needed.
Assist in maintaining the wellness clinic/ gym clean and safe for the residents and team members.
Maintain a safe working environment by following all infection control procedures and complying with all policies and protocols of Harbison.
Support Personal Carers, Registered Nurses and Lifestyle staff with resident care assistance as needed.
Ensure staff members are using the correct equipment when transferring or mobilising residents and explain manual handling requirements for all residents to the appropriate staff.
Continuous professional development by attending regular training sessions as advised by Harbison, maintaining personal networks, and enrolling for courses/conferences of interest in the field.

Requirements Certificate III or IV in Allied Health.
Valid driver's licence.
Current CPR and first aid certificate.
Demonstrated skills in the planning and implementation of programs and activities.
Ability to supervise and conduct group sessions.
Geriatric / home care / dementia care experience preferred.
Knowledge of basic physiology and medical science.
General computer skills, and online documentation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong relationship-building skills and customer-centric approach.
Proactive 'can do' approach and attitude.
