Make a Real Impact in Remote Healthcare – GP Role in the Pilbara

Are you ready to take your general practice career to new heights—literally and figuratively? We’re offering a unique and deeply rewarding opportunity for a passionate GP to join our team delivering essential healthcare services to remote Pilbara communities through the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) clinics.

Your Week at a Glance

- 3 days of outreach clinics each week—travel by plane twice and 4WD once for a truly adventurous workweek.
- Clinic days are usually about 7am-4.30pm. Fly for about an hour out to clinic and see patients from 08.30am-2.30pm and head for home again.
- Monday admin time with flexibility—structure your week to suit your lifestyle, including the option of a 4-day weekend every second week.
- Permanent 0.8 FTE (Mon–Thu) based in Port Hedland, with FIFO job-share options available.

Live Comfortably, Work Remotely

Enjoy the best of both worlds: live in a well-appointed home in Port Hedland while making a difference in remote communities. Experience the satisfaction of building strong relationships and improving health outcomes in small, close-knit populations.

Why This Role Stands Out

- A rare chance to combine clinical excellence with adventure, purpose, and community impact.
- A truly unique role where you will enjoy clinical work variety, and the challenges and logistics of remote work.
- Be part of a supportive, mission-driven team that values your expertise and flexibility.
- Work independently as a GP, with the support of the wider RFDS team.

Who We’re Looking For

- FRACGP or FACRRM
- Unconditional AHPRA Specialist GP registration
- Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience, including general practice, emergency medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics, and gynaecology
- Interest in clinical education and telehealth
- Experience in Indigenous health, remote community care, and shared antenatal care is highly desirable
- Completion of emergency courses such as ALS is advantageous

Total Remuneration Package

- Base salary up to $273,562 per annum (at 0.8 FTE)
- Salary packaging: up to $15,900/year for everyday expenses + $2,650/year for meals and entertainment
- Heavily subsidised housing, vehicle, and utilities (or allowances)
- No out of hours on call
- Relocation support
- Professional development allowance (included in base salary above)
- 5 weeks annual leave (pro-rata)
- 2 weeks study leave after 12 months (pro-rata)
