MidCoast Council is seeking a part‐time Deer Project Officer to support coordinated feral deer management across the region. The role focuses on delivering on‐ground control programs, working with landholders, contractors, agencies and internal teams to reduce impacts on natural systems, private property and community safety.

Responsibilities

* Procuring, coordinating and supervising contractors for deer control on public and private land.
* Ensuring all activities meet legislative, WHS and risk‐management requirements.
* Building strong relationships with landholders, agencies and industry partners.
* Responding to enquiries and providing education and practical advice on deer control.
* Developing and implementing operational plans, including shoot plans and control protocols.
* Preparing reports on activities, outcomes, budgets and contractor performance.
* Supporting the inter‐agency deer control working group.
* Identifying funding opportunities and managing grant‐funded projects.

Qualifications

* Qualifications in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or a related field.
* Experience in natural resource or invasive species management and project delivery.
* Proven contractor procurement, supervision and risk‐management experience.
* Strong problem‐solving skills and ability to work independently, including after hours.
* Wildlife survey and GIS mapping experience (desirable).
* Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‐engagement skills.
* Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively.
* High‐level written and verbal communication skills.
* Current Class C Driver's Licence (Coxswain's licence desirable).

Salary and Benefits

Commencing salary $51,578 p.a. (pro rata salary at 21 hours per week). 12.5% Superannuation. Salary negotiable based on skills and experience.

Location

This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure

* Part time, 12‐month fixed term contract
* 21 hours per week
* Days of work negotiable
