We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Payroll Officer to join our People Operations team in our Melbourne Southbank office on a permanent full‐time basis. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, compliant, and end‐to‐end payroll services for a large, complex workforce.
Key Responsibilities
* End‐to‐end processing of monthly and fortnightly payrolls for 2,000+ employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance
* Manage payroll queries via ServiceNow requests and shared inboxes, delivering a high level of customer service to stakeholders
* Perform end‐of‐month and year‐end payroll activities, including reconciliations and reporting
* Partner with Finance to process bank files, super payments and reconcile general ledgers
* Process third‐party payroll requirements, e.g. Government Paid Parental Leave, Child Support Deductions, Novated Leases
* Support audit requirements
* Interpret and apply EA's, contracts and payroll legislation to resolve complex payroll scenarios
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimisation and system enhancements
Your Background
* Extensive payroll experience with strong end‐to‐end ownership
* Proven ability to run payroll independently in a high‐volume, fast‐paced environment
* Strong problem‐solving skills with the ability to manage complex calculations (e.g. back pay, overpayments)
* Solid knowledge of Australian payroll legislation including PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, and EAs
* Hands‐on experience with Chris21 (essential); Workday knowledge is advantageous
* Collaborative mindset with experience working in a shared services environment, partnering effectively with Finance and HR teams
