We seek a building science professional to support our commercial building services, including energy modeling, energy code compliance,decarbonization audits,and blower door testing for commercialandmultifamilybuildings.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Providing project management and consultingforcommercialand multifamilynew construction and renovationprojectsseekingtooptimizeenergy performance
Reviewing architectural, mechanical,electrical, andplumbingplansand specificationsandwritingreportsdescribing recommendations
Performing take-offsinBluebeamand Sketchupof envelope, mechanical,electrical, andplumbing systems
Developing eQuestenergymodels of multifamily and commercial buildings
Developing WUFI/Metrenergy models of multifamily and commercial buildings
Developing THERM models of thermal bridge details
PerformingASHRAE Level 2 energy audits ofexistingmultifamily and commercial buildings
Writing decarbonization reports with recommendations
Performingon-siteinspections forprojects
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree inmechanicalengineering, architectural engineering,or related discipline
For Building Science Specialist I,a minimum of2years experiencewith architectural design,mechanical engineering, or commercial building energy modelingORMastersdegree inarchitectural, engineering,mechanical engineering, or similar
For Building Science Specialist II,a minimum of 4years experiencewith architectural design,mechanical engineering, or commercial building energy modelingANDat leastone of the following:Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC),Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP),High-Performance Building Design Professional (HBDP), Building Assessment Professional (BEAP), Commissioning Professional (BCxP),Professional Engineer (PE),Building Energy Simulation Analyst (BESA), Certified Energy Modeler (CEM),Certified Energy Manager (CEM),Existing Buildinging Professional (EBCP), or Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), AND/ORMastersDegree inMechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering,or similar
Familiarity with energy modeling software suchaseQuest, WUFI, or THERM
Interest in energy efficiency, renewable energy, andminimizingglobal climate change
Located within70miles of Northampton,Massachusettsand willing to work in our office 1-3 days per week
