Full-time position; approximately 38 hours per week with a flexible roster that may include early morning shifts (e.g., 2am–12pm, 4am–12pm as needed).
Responsibilities
Prepare and produce quality bakery products in line with Bakers Delight standards (full training provided on BDH recipes).
Accurately weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough.
Operate bakery machinery and tools to produce bread, rolls, pastries, and specialty items.
Monitor baking processes to ensure products are baked to perfection.
Decorate cakes and bakery goods with glazes, icings, buttercream, and edible toppings.
Manage proofing, shaping, and baking schedules to meet production deadlines.
Check and maintain the quality and freshness of ingredients.
Follow portion control and recipe specifications to maintain product consistency.
Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment, ensuring machinery, tools, and premises meet WHS and Food Safety standards.
Assist with stock rotation and inventory management of baking supplies.
Report equipment issues promptly to management to prevent downtime.
Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
Train and mentor junior staff and apprentices when required.
Selection Criteria / Qualifications
Ability to be available for work across the 7 days of the week, which may include evening work and some public holidays (starting times can be as early as 2am).
Work in a quick-paced team environment and communicate with customers and staff.
Positive attitude and ability to complete duties as directed by management.
Abide by company policies and procedures at all times.
Train, develop and supervise apprentices and staff in the Bakery Department.
Attention to detail.
Minimum one number of years of experience (one or more) in baking; additional experience or qualifications are advantageous.
