The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment's Water Resource Division is responsible for administering the regulatory framework to manage the Northern Territory's water resources and to support the Controller of Water Resources in performing their statutory functions.
As a
Water Quality Officer
, you provide scientific and water quality input into the Water Resources Division's work program. This involves undertaking projects that acquire and evaluate hydrological and water quality data to make resource assessments related to surface and groundwater resources and water quality. You will be responsible for deploying industry leading water quality and water resource assessment techniques and standards and applying water quality protocols for data collection and management.
In addition, you will be required to prepare project reports and liaise with staff and stakeholders including laboratories to ensure project delivery.
To be successful, you require a degree qualification in Hydrology, Chemistry or a similar discipline relevant to the role, demonstrated experience in scientific and technical water resource investigation projects, and experience in the application of industry standards and laboratory protocols. The ability to assess and interpret field and laboratory water quality data, undertake fieldwork in remote areas and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and community groups is essential.
