Canteen Officer - Maitland

Ready to bring good food and good vibes to an energetic school community? All Saints' Catholic College, Maitland is looking for a Temporary Part‑Time Canteen Officer (20 hours per fortnight, each Wednesday and Thursday) to join our bustling team for 12 months from January 2026.

All Saints' College is a thriving co‑educational secondary school for Years 7–12, proudly serving the Maitland‑Newcastle Diocese. With 1,250+ students, 190+ staff, and two campuses buzzing with activity, we’re the largest school in the Diocese and one of the biggest Catholic schools in NSW! Our Junior Campus houses Years 7–10, while our Senior Campus caters to Years 11–12.

Description

The Canteen Officer is responsible for maintaining day‑to‑day operations of the school canteen, including opening and closing, preparing and selling menu items in accordance with the canteen menu. The role requires following food handling and money handling policies, maintaining a cooperative working workplace, and providing a friendly, customer‑focused service to students and staff.

The Canteen Manager supports profitable management and operations, develops relationships within the school community (students, parents, volunteers, teachers and other personnel).

Experience/Criteria

- Demonstrated understanding of current Work, Health and Safety requirements.
- Knowledge of preparation, proper storage and disposal of food.
- Knowledge of cleaning and hand hygiene.
- Practical experience in the operation of a café or canteen.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, achieve organisational and team values, goals and objectives, and behave professionally.
- Experience in handling cash.

Qualifications

- Food Supervisor Certificate or commitment to complete the course within 2 years of employment.
- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number.

Conditions of Employment

Salary in accordance with Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award 2020.
