Key responsibilities will include: Providing legal counsel on new business initiatives including renewable energy projects, battery storage, hydrogen, and emerging technologies Supporting net zero and sustainability projects including carbon offset programs, renewable energy certificates, and ESG initiatives Structuring complex commercial arrangements for joint ventures, partnerships, and strategic alliances in the energy sector Advising on regulatory compliance across energy markets including National Electricity Rules, gas regulations, and environmental legislation Managing legal aspects of project development including site acquisition, planning approvals, and environmental permits Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements including power purchase agreements, development agreements, and construction contracts Providing counsel on corporate governance matters related to sustainability and climate risk disclosure Supporting mergers and acquisitions in the renewable energy and technology sectors Advising on consumer energy regulation and retail market compliance Collaborating with external legal advisors and regulatory counsel on complex matters Supporting government relations and regulatory submissions on energy policy matters Managing intellectual property matters related to new technologies and innovations About the Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate brings significant experience in energy law and commercial legal practice, with specific expertise in renewable energy, regulatory compliance, and complex commercial transactions. Strong commercial acumen and the ability to provide practical legal solutions in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment are essential for success in this role.
