We are looking for a technically strong Mechanical Engineer to support the development and prototyping of next-generation products within a multidisciplinary R&D environment.
This role will focus on translating research concepts into validated mechanical designs through detailed analysis, simulation, and hands-on prototype development.
Responsibilities
* Design and develop mechanical systems from concept to production
* Perform detailed engineering calculations and tolerance analysis
* Model complex systems using in-house simulation tools (including electron/ion optics where applicable)
* Generate 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and specifications
* Conduct DFMEA, risk assessments, and design validation
* Support prototype build, testing, and production transfer
* Collaborate across engineering, research, and quality teams
Requirements
* Full Australian working rights
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
* 3+ years in product development or R&D engineering
* Strong understanding of design for manufacture (DFM)
* Experience with GD&T and drawing standards
* Proven hands-on prototyping and testing capability
* Strong technical communication skills
Desirable
* Experience with advanced simulation tools
* Exposure to high-precision instrumentation
* Experience in regulated or high-tech manufacturing environments
