We're looking for a Workshop Coordinator to take ownership of our workshop operations, lead a skilled team, and ensure work is delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance people management, technical oversight, and operational excellence - working closely with senior leadership, clients, and suppliers to keep the business moving forward.
The Role
As Workshop Coordinator, you will:
* Lead and manage day-to-day workshop operations, job flow, scheduling, and labour allocation
* Coordinate resources, materials, and personnel to deliver jobs efficiently and profitably
* Ensure all materials, job numbers, traceability, and time records are accurate and compliant
* Oversee quality checks, documentation, and ISO9001 requirements
* Act as a technical adviser on key projects and complex jobs
* Maintain transparent communication with management and clients on job progress, risks, and delays
* Drive a strong Health & Safety culture with a lead-by-example approach
* Manage stores operations including inward goods, dispatch, and invoice receipting
* Mentor apprentices, semi-skilled, and experienced tradespeople—developing capability across the team
* Identify training needs, manage performance, and support HR with staffing, development, and retention
* Contribute to budgets, cost control, profitability, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Support company growth by identifying opportunities and strengthening client relationships

What You'll Bring
* Fabrication trade qualification (Boilermaker/welder)
* Proven workshop or operations management experience
* Strong people leadership and communication skills
* Ability to engage confidently from shop floor to senior management
* Project management capability and commercial awareness
* Quality and productivity focused mindset
* Solid computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel); CAD skills advantageous but not essential
* A proactive attitude with the ability to see opportunities beyond the initial job scope
