Made up of collaborative, creative and committed people, our Design and Place team is looking for a Manager Design and Place to support the Senior Manager to provide design excellence advice and specialist design consultation, and to lead the design, development and delivery of high-quality urban design, public domain and open space outcomes across Placemaking NSW precincts such as The Rocks, Darling Harbour, Luna Park, Circular Quay, and White Bay.
This role is pivotal in working closely with other Design and Place senior managers in heritage, place planning and archaeology towards the development, implementation, integration, and evaluation of place making policies, strategies and processes across Placemaking NSW to support the development of high-quality urban design and landscape outcomes

**What you'll be doing**
- Prepare high quality evidence-based advice and provide specialist input to support informed decision making in relation to architecture, urban and landscape design related to state significant development, master planning projects, public domain and landscape projects.
- Support the unit in all aspects of technical design development including architecture, urban and landscape design for projects across Placemaking NSW precincts as required.
- Maintain knowledge of best practice models in urban and landscape design including Designing with Country principles and work collaboratively to share best practice designs and strategies effectively across Placemaking NSW.
- Manage the formulation of plans, documentation, and strategies for all urban and landscape design initiatives including preparation of design strategies, community engagement and presentation of proposals to stakeholders including Executive, Advisory Board and CEO.
- Management of project budgets ensuring the effective management of resources and the provision of a safe working environment.
- Prepare, manage and review of project design briefs.
- Partner with business stakeholders and key executive stakeholders to capture, assess and prioritise strategic project.
- Monitor, review, advise and challenge the content and quality of designs to ensure that the design outcomes meet agency, community and visitor requirements and deliver best practice place outcomes.
- Critical and analytical skills in relation to design issues including demonstrated experience in the supervision and implementation of urban and landscape design projects.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to provide clear verbal and/or written advice to staff, tenants, NSW Agencies and the wider public.
- Knowledge of heritage conservation theory and practices, management of public domain and open space.
- Impeccable customer service and, problem-solving skills.
**Essential requirements**
- Demonstrated industry experience with tertiary qualifications in landscape architecture and/or urban design or another built environment discipline and membership, or ability to become a member, of a relevant professional body.
- Experience with and understanding of NSW legislation, policy, processes and practices involved in the design, planning and delivery or numerous urban and landscape design projects on State Significant sites and precincts.
- Competency in AutoCAD, MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite
- Current driver's license.
