Key ICT Integration Engineer Role
This is a high-level, technically complex position working at the forefront of Land domain digital transformation.
* Integrate Joint Fires systems into the Army's digital architecture to ensure seamless operations.
Responsibilities:
Provide expert engineering advice, build and operate test environments, support trials, and contribute to digital design, modelling, and standards.
* Install, configure, and operate Joint Fires ICT systems across Windows, Linux, and mobile platforms to meet specific requirements.
* Manage LOS/BLOS communication networks and support RF integration within a tactical framework for enhanced performance.
* Support innovation efforts by scripting and automating integration/test functions to improve efficiency.
* Develop engineering artefacts and test plans for Joint Fires validation to ensure compliance with standards.
* Perform system-level analysis using basic statistics/data analytics to inform decision-making.
* Generate mission and test threads for LCS-wide experimentation to drive progress.
* Draft risk assessments, decision briefs, and technical notes to facilitate informed discussions.
* Prepare integration advice for Land programs and executives to support strategic planning.
* Brief stakeholders on Joint Fires readiness and interoperability challenges to foster collaboration.
* Respond to technical requests from Land Integration Framework and stakeholders to provide timely support.
* Represent Land Integration in working groups and forums – including Joint and Coalition Defence meetings – to promote effective communication.
* Drive new ideas by submitting verbal/written innovation proposals to stimulate creativity.
Requirements:
To excel in this role, you must have:
* At least 10 years of hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting deployable ICT systems.
* A strong foundation in network engineering and software integration to ensure effective solutions.
* Experience working in Systems Engineering frameworks to streamline operations.
* Proven skills in test planning, execution, and reporting to guarantee success.
* Qualifications in IT, Networking, Software Development, or Programming to underpin your expertise.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills to build strong relationships.
* A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently or in small teams to achieve objectives.
* Demonstrated understanding (or capability to rapidly learn) TDL message protocols and standards to stay ahead.
Desirable Qualifications:
Familiarity with TDL & Fires Military Standards (MILSTD 2045-47001, 188-220, 6016, 6017, 3011) to enhance your expertise.
Experience with in-service Joint Fires or deployable ADF systems to leverage existing knowledge.
Qualifications in Systems Engineering, Project Management, or Test & Evaluation to broaden your skillset.
Strong technical writing and documentation skills to communicate complex ideas effectively.
Experience scripting with Python, PowerShell, or similar to automate tasks and improve productivity.
Location:
Symonston, ACT (primary location). Some interstate and international travel may be required for trials and coalition engagements.
Contract Information:
Initial contract includes a 3-month probation period for new personnel. Role is for one Key Person only – team proposals or subcontracted delivery not permitted.
