We are seeking to establish a pool of Cleaner in Charge for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Middle Swan Primary School (PS) has been an Independent Public School since 2011. It is a large, well-resourced and equipped school, catering for approximately 350 students enrolled from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school population is drawn mainly from Stratton and the nearby suburbs of Jane Brook and Middle Swan.
The school is effectively supported by a Child and Parent Centre that compliments school programs with additional services to better meet the needs of the school community. A dedicated group of parents participate in the School Board and assist in classrooms and on excursions.

The Role
The Cleaner in Charge is responsible for opening/closing the school, including security alarms. They supervise and carry out internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal, and other items of general cleaning. They would carry out and supervise external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, rubbish removal, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning, removal of cobwebs, general cleaning, and other such duties as required. Additionally, they would be required to complete vacation cleaning duties, which will include the stripping and sealing of vinyl floors, window cleaning, shampooing of carpets, pressure cleaning of verandas and undercover areas, and other such duties as required.
The suitable applicants would ideally have experience in supervising staff, as they would work alongside school staff and manage staff performance in consultation with the Manager Corporate Services (MCS). In addition, the Cleaner in Charge will liaise with the MCS on all cleaning matters, and record and respond to issues and concerns. They will maintain the cleaner's time book, arrange relief staff, be responsible for monitoring and ordering stock supplies and stocktake of cleaning resources.
