Support Officers in the National Police Checking Service (NPCS or the Service) are required to support the delivery of the Service by providing timely and accurate customer support to our key stakeholders, including police partner agencies, government and non-government organisations as well as members of the general public. The role requires candidates who have strong customer service and communication skills, as well as the ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships.
Support Officer positions are available in the below NPCS teams.
The key duties of the position include
Accreditation and Audit
The Accreditation and Audit team is responsible for assessing applications from organisations seeking to become accredited with the ACIC for the purposes of submitting Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks, as well as managing the contract between Accredited Bodies and the ACIC. The team is also responsible for delivering the NPCS Assurance Program to ensure that Accredited Bodies are meeting their contractual obligations in accessing and using the Service.
Service Delivery
The Service Delivery team is responsible for providing timely operational and customer support to Police Partner Agencies, Accredited Bodies and members of the general public for queries received via email and by telephone. This team is also responsible for stakeholder engagement for the NPCS.
Service Reporting
The Service Reporting team is responsible for managing technical queries relating to the service from Police Partner Agencies and Accredited Bodies. The team manages the reporting functions for the Service, which includes providing data to stakeholders regarding check volumes, revenue and other statistical information relating to the Service.
Governance and Coordination
The Governance and Coordination team is responsible for the provision of high-quality written communication and developing strategies and plans for communication, engagement and collaboration, to create improved value for the Service. The team ensures that critical aspects of the Service meet emerging Government priorities, which benefit the community and national security.

- Ability to draft correspondence using agreed formats and structured guidelines;
- Experience in performing research and analysis activities and report on findings;
- A general knowledge of the importance of working with sensitive information in an setting where accuracy is of high importance;
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft applications and the ability to quickly learn new IT systems and applications.
