About the Role
As Head of Department – Science you will lead curriculum, teaching and assessment across Science subjects, ensuring high‐quality instruction, consistent planning, and strong student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Coaching and developing staff, analysing student data to guide improvement strategies, overseeing assessment and moderation processes, and maintaining safe and compliant laboratory practices.
* Coordinating resources and budgets, supporting differentiated and evidence‐based teaching approaches, and contributing to whole‐school improvement priorities through clear communication and collaborative leadership.
* Supporting leadership in building a positive, cohesive team culture focused on shared responsibility, continuous improvement and a collective commitment to student achievement.
* Advancing instruction and student achievement by setting high standards for student and staff performance and embedding socially just practices in daily school life.
* Actively participating in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
The role requires strong science teaching expertise, instructional leadership capability, data‐informed decision‐making, and effective staff coaching and organisational skills.
