We are Woolworths Group
We are Woolworths Group. 200,000+ bright minds, passionate hearts, and unique perspectives across Australia and New Zealand. Connected by a shared Purpose - 'to create better experiences together for a better tomorrow'. That Purpose fuels our ambition to explore new ideas, make brave commitments, and innovate better ways to meet the food and everyday needs of more than 24 million customers every week.
If you're excited to turn today's blue-sky thinking into a better tomorrow for future generations, you'll find yourself supported and enriched in a dynamic, inclusive, and empowering workplace. With a culture of genuine care, a flexible approach to work, and opportunities across the group to grow your career and make a meaningful impact, the possibilities for what we can achieve together are endless.
What You'll Do
We are looking for a Lead UX Researcher who sees research as a competitive intelligence engine rather than just a supportive service. You aren't just here to validate designs; you are here to architect the future of our digital experience. We're looking for someone who understands that 5% improvement in checkout is meaningless if friction at the discovery phase is killing the conversion. You will bridge the gap between "What is happening?" and "Why does it matter?" to ensure our end to end journey is a seamless, living ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities Of The Role Include
* Defining and driving the long-term research strategy, moving beyond tactical projects to focus on longitudinal studies and future market opportunities.
* Mastering the end-to-end customer journey, monitoring the full ecosystem and conducting predictive impact analysis to identify friction points.
* Partnering with senior stakeholders (Product, Design, Marketing) to embed customer-centricity and ensure research shapes high-level business decisions.
* Synthesising qualitative insights with quantitative behavioral data to create compelling, high-impact narratives for executive leadership.
* Pioneering new Human-Centred Design (HCD) methods and techniques to proactively uncover latent customer needs and gain a competitive edge.
* Managing and scale research operations (tools, recruitment, data governance) while actively mentoring junior UX Researchers and advocating best practice.
What You'll Bring
* Extensive Experience: 8-10+ years of relevant experience in UX Research or Service Design, with a track record of leading complex projects in a corporate or agency environment.
* Expert Mixed Methods: Mastery of qualitative research with advanced proficiency in integrating quantitative data to provide a holistic view of the customer.
* Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to transition from tactical execution to strategic influence, shaping product vision through research.
* Exceptional Communication: Sophisticated presentation and storytelling skills, capable of influencing diverse audiences.
What You'll Experience
We embrace diversity of thought and love to take on challenges with a pragmatic and innovative approach. Our culture thrives on mutual respect, care, curiosity, openness, and a proactive attitude. We continually seek ways to pair, collaborate, support, and learn from each other as a team
* Team discounts across our range of Woolworths Group brands you know and love and a robust rewards program that celebrates and incentivises purpose-driven work
* A global business with endless career possibilities around every corner and across every discipline – with valuable exposure to a vast and exciting business network
* A progressive and flexible 'work from anywhere' policy that gives you the opportunity to harmonise work, life and your wellbeing
* Parental Leave provisions and various leave types, including but not limited to Study Leave and Sports Representation Leave
