The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West, Great South, Upper wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia.
SWAMS delivers a wide range of Services including: GP Clinics, Primary Health Care, Counselling, NDIS and community host various programs.

About the role
Our current highly valued Receptionist has been with SWAMS for over 20 years and has decided to retire which opens up a great opportunity for an experienced Receptionist or Administrator to step into this role that has become an extremely important position at SWAMS.
The Receptionist at SWAMS is based at our administration building in Bunbury.
You would be providing support and being the first point of contact for clients, staff and suppliers always ensuring a professional and friendly manner is portrayed.
This person will greet all visitors, answer phones and direct them to appropriate person, ensure sufficient stock of kitchen supplies along with keeping the area clean and presentatble.
This is a role that will keep you busy all day and will include but not be limited to:
Daily opening and securing of the administration building and reception area
Greet and direct all visitors and clients to appropriate staff and provide general information in response to inquiries
Record and receive all calls and mail and direct to appropriate staff
Collection and posting of mail
Liaise with cleaners, maintenance workers, service providers and suppliers in relation to building stock and maintenance
Protection of client information in accordance with privacy legislation
Administration projects such as archiving, document formatting, preparing emails and memos for management as requested
Our reception receives a lot of visitors from our local community.
They may have enquiries or just want to see a friendly face and have a yarn.
This will require someone who shows empathy, sensitivity and confidentiality.
About you
Given this is a crucial position to SWAMS we will require someone who has already gained a substantial experience working in an office environment and has highly developed customer service skills.
You will be a people person who enjoys interacting with the public and other staff members.
Along with these special traits you will:
Be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent under section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act
Gained a minimum of 2 years receptionist experience within a fast paced and diverse work environment
Demonstrated experience working with the public and have highly developed communication skills
Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to achieve results under pressure
Demonstrated high level word processing and Microsoft Office Skills
Ideally, but not essential, you would have completed a relevant qualification to enhance this role and have demonstrated experience working within the Aboriginal Community.
