THE ROLE
Based in our Cairns office, the Senior Hydraulic Engineer is responsible for delivering and overseeing hydraulic engineering services across sectors including health, education, commercial, urban, civic and recreational. Your typical day may include:
* Providing high-quality technical solutions and developing engineering design documentation, including drawings, specifications and reports
* Offering technical leadership to hydraulic engineering team members
* Supporting business development across the regions in which we operate
* Providing hydraulic engineering support to our NT, QLD, VIC and WA offices
* Mentoring and guiding junior engineers and emerging professionals
* Applying innovative systems thinking to enhance project delivery, quality and processes
* Playing an integral part in shaping the growth and capability of our national engineering team
This position is a key contributor to the future of our hydraulic discipline and broader national business.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
You are an experienced Senior Hydraulic Engineer who brings:
* A tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Civil or Hydraulic Engineering (or equivalent), recognised by Engineers Australia
* At least five years of experience in hydraulic and fire protection building services engineering
* Strong understanding and practical application of Australian Standards and the National Construction Code (NCC)
* Proven experience in the technical design of building services
* Extensive experience preparing design documentation, specifications, reports, calculations, drawings, cost estimates and schedules
* Strong proficiency with hydraulic design tools
* Strong collaboration and independent working skills, within a broader national team
* Confidence engaging, communicating and collaborating with architects, structural engineers and other building services specialists
* A continuous improvement mindset, with a desire to refine processes and systems
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* A motivated and proactive mindset, with the ability to inspire and guide others
It would also be advantageous if you have:
* RPEQ, CPEng or similar professional qualification
* Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
