Position Title: Maintenance Fitter Department: Engineering / Maintenance Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor or Engineering Manager L ocation: Adelaide, South Australia Employment Type: Full-time Position Summary The Maintenance Fitter will be responsible for ensuring all plant equipment and machinery operate efficiently and reliably, with minimal downtime. This includes carrying out preventive maintenance, attending to mechanical breakdowns, supporting production operations, and ensuring adherence to food safety and WHS standards. Previous experience in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry is essential. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and breakdown maintenance on production and packaging equipment. Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out timely repairs to reduce downtime. Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance across all mechanical systems. Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and commissioning of new machinery. Troubleshoot production issues in collaboration with machine operators and supervisors. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using CMMS or manual logs. Ensure compliance with WHS, HACCP, and GMP protocols in all maintenance work. Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives. Maintain workshop housekeeping and manage spare parts inventory. Support a proactive safety culture and report any hazards or incidents. Skills and Experience Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent). Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment. Strong knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, gearboxes, and mechanical drive systems Hands-on experience with mixers, extruders, and high-speed packaging equipment. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals. Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and WHS practices in a food-grade environment. Welding and fabrication experience (advantageous). Competent in using maintenance systems and documentation processes. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
