Planning Expertise
This position requires a Senior Planner with extensive knowledge of NSW planning systems and development processes, and experience in conducting desktop site analysis and research.
Daily Responsibilities:
* Interpret local and state government strategies, policies, and legislation to inform planning decisions
* Analyze complex planning matters and determine effective solutions in a timely manner
* Prepare technical reports and supporting documentation for proposed developments, including Statements of Environmental Effects
* Negotiate outcomes on applications, balancing applicant, community needs, and planning provisions
* BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH STAKEHOLDERS, INCLUDING GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND THE COMMUNITY
Requirements:
* At least 5 years of experience in planning assessment
* Proficiency in NSW planning systems and development processes
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Able to work effectively in a team environment
Working Conditions:
This role is based in Newcastle, with travel to various sites as needed. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will have the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
