We're looking for a professional with proven experience in statutory compliance and a strong working knowledge of local government operations.
The Role
As a Local Laws Officer, you'll be responsible for ensuring compliance with council local laws, policies, and relevant legislation. This is a hands-on role requiring excellent community engagement skills and a commitment to maintaining public safety and amenity.
Key Duties:
- Investigating and resolving complaints regarding breaches of local laws (e.g., parking, waste, public health, fire hazards).
- Issuing infringements, official warnings, and notices to comply.
- Preparing comprehensive briefs of evidence and attending court as required.
- Conducting routine patrols to monitor compliance and act as a visible council representative.
- Providing explicit, accurate advice to the community on council laws and policies.
What You'll Bring
- Essential: Significant, proven experience working as a Local Laws Officer within a local government context.
- Strong Knowledge: Solid understanding of Council Local Laws and policies and regulatory frameworks.
- Highly Desirable: Relevant qualification such as a Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance).
- Availability: Must be immediately available to commence.
- Skills: Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and report writing skills.
- Bonus: Experience or knowledge related to the Domestic Animals Act 1994 (Victoria).

- Hourly Rate: $40 - $45 per hour + Superannuation.
