SC1: Demonstrated awareness and understanding of the issues encountered by children and experience in using evidence-based practices to support students with complex needs and the wider school community.

SC2: Proven capacity to work in a team to build strong, positive relationships with students, staff and parents, and to foster a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

SC3: Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in working collaboratively with partner agencies and families to support the needs of young people.

SC4: Demonstrated capacity to support school staff to devise a range of small-group and whole-school programs that address social and emotional student needs, improving mental health and wellbeing.

SC5: Ability to use resources within the school community, Department of Education, and from external providers to improve student engagement, connectedness, and learning outcomes.

**Role**:
The role supports student engagement through the development and implementation of programs and strategies that aim to improve their general wellbeing, identity, and sense of connectedness to school.

This role may also include, but is not limited to:

- Identify students facing difficulties with attendance, behaviour and engagement, and develop interventions and strategies.
- Support students with specific social, emotional and learning needs to engage with school.
- Work with a broad range of service providers and Departmental staff while maintaining confidentiality with student medical and wellbeing history.
- Support the planning of learning programs, excursions and events with the aim of deeper student engagement and connectedness to school.

Guidelines are broad and day to day direction mínimal. This role requires effective liaison with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and community service providers. There will be close interaction with a range of staff and visitors.

**Responsibilities**:
**Student Support**
- Keep relevant, professional and up-to-date case notes on identified students to monitor progress and develop robust support plans
- Working with key stakeholders both within and beyond the school community to support students to achieve their personal and academic potential
- Communicate with staff regarding student wellbeing, health, and safety concerns in a timely manner
- Collect, analyse, and report data regarding wellbeing issues to the Principal
- Document plans for students with consideration to wellbeing and safety strategies
- Engage in reportable conduct duties and emergency management procedures
- Provision of one-on-one mentoring support and counselling for students as required and where appropriate

**Wellbeing Programs & Intervention**
- Implement and facilitate targeted group intervention programs to support students at risk such as social skills, resilience, friendship and anxiety
- Liaise with Principal to discuss appropriate referrals and support
- Support of the Disability Inclusion Program.
- Contribute to the creation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Student Support Group (SSG) meetings.

**Other Duties**
- At all times working to create a professional environment that upholds the school¿s values
- Assist the Principal where required
- Undertake other operational duties relevant to the field of responsibility as requested by the Principal
